Celebrating the South!
Saturday in June (Date TBD), 2017 • 12pm-7pm • Daffin Park, Savannah
Set to Launch: 2017 • Estimated attendance: 15,000+ • Estimated Exhibitor/Vendors: 100+
This festival has been designed to appeal to a wide range of demographics, with activities and offerings for all kinds of families. Our partnerships with area schools, churches and other civic organizations, allows us to reach directly to some of Chatham County’s largest groups for maximum attendance.
Food is the glue that binds a Southern Family together. It has come to define us, yet remains as diverse as the people whom it represents. Cuisines such as “Soul Food”, Low-Country or “Gullah”, Cajun or “Creole”, and even the quintessential Barbecue, have all been developed here. They will be represented by some of the area’s best restaurants who have made honoring those foods, their life’s work.
Music born in the South, has come to represent the sound of America to the rest of the world. Jazz, R&B, Blues, Bluegrass, Soul, Gospel, Country, Folk, Rockabilly, Zydeco, and Southern Rock were all born in the South. Festival attendees will be treated to an afternoon long concert that encompasses these genres, while learning more about their history and contribution to our nation’s culture.
The Saturday before Father’s Day in June is the tentative date for the first Southern Family Food and Music Festival to take place in Daffin Park. Similar to our other events, there will be vendors and exhibitors representing diversity of our community through artistic expression and community engagement. With this event we hope to foster a sense of pride within our community – our Savannah Family.
